The Resurrection

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” — John 20:1-2
resurrection

How difficult was it for the One who is Lord of the universe—who had a hand in creation itself, who is the very force of life that holds living things together—to wake up from the sleep of death and set aside the burial cloths draping his body?

As was always the case, Jesus’ revelations of himself did not happen with television cameras focused on him. Not even a respectable crowd was gathered. An alarming word from young Mary Magdalene about Jesus’ body being gone produced a panic and a footrace among two of Jesus’ beloved disciples, Peter and John. One looked and merely saw the emptiness of the tomb; the other saw the connection between this moment and the mysterious words of Jesus—and he believed.

Now things were really complicated and the disciples went home. So Jesus first appeared to a brokenhearted Mary who stayed at the tomb. Mary was the first to behold something the world had never seen before—a resurrected, transformed life.

Resurrection day for Jesus was simply the first installment of a resurrection of masses of people when this era of the history of the universe draws to a close. What God promises to those who belong to Jesus is not the loss of self into a nothingness bliss, but the resurrection and remaking of everything that is right and good in the world he created. And until then, he invites us to begin living transformed lives, continually shaped and changed by the hope of the redemption of all that God has made.

Ponder This: Where in your life do you need the resurrection power of Jesus at work today?

I need Jesus’ resurrection power to be active in the lives of my husband and children. They’ve all accepted Him as Lord and Savior of their lives but are not serving Him. I pray that He become the center of their lives. I am a living example of God’s love, mercy, grace and provision.

We don’t always see the tender and patient example we are in how others. “The Light” you are.
15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
      Matthew 5
Praying your family and we all are:
2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
      Matthew 5
Easter Promise blessings to you, your husband, children, loved ones and friends, and everyone this Holy Week and always.

  3. Where in your life do you need the resurrection power of Jesus at work today? I need the power of Jesus’ sacrifice in my life every millisecond of everyday! I pray for his resurrection power to cover all of my family and my friends who have not accepted him as their Lord and Savior. I also need his resurrection power to draw “US” all closer to him in everything that we do. We all need a closer relationship with Jesus!

  4. I need the resurrection power of Jesus in my life to “first fruit” continuously to rise above my circumstances, failures and fears, that I may be a better example for my husband, daughter, siblings, relatives. friends, church family, coworkers and those who GOD bring into my life for a reason and a season. As my light shine my unsaved loved ones will desire to experience the gift of joy that GOD has shown me favor with!

To carry me past my needs. To:
3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
    Philippians 2
When I feel judged and broken by men.

  6. I need the power of Jesus’s resurrection in my marriage and my family. Sometimes my marriage seems to be heading in a regrettable feelings between me and my wife. I am asking the resurrection power to remind us that it is love from God that brought us together.

  7. It’s not so much a question of where ,but also of when. I believe we all needed the power 24/7. This is what helps guide us and remind us of who we are and what we are. All of the same flock with one Shepherd.

  8. I need Jesus’ resurrection power to send conviction to my son, to place people and circumstances in his life that let’s him understand that true peace and joy can be found in serving the One who sacrificed His life for you.

So many thoughts about the resurrection come into my mind. And yet how little I have the depth of what it truly means in my life. I am not saying I am not a born-again believer, it is just, such an act of love and the magnitude is hard for my finite mind to grasp. I am saved by grace through faith, but have I fully grasped it? This is why these verses from Paul speak dearly to my life because this is how I want to know Christ.

Php 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
    Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Php 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

In all I hope and long for in this life, it is to know Christ to the extent that my mind can understand. I have said to so many that are my friends, there is nothing in my life; wife, children, job, finances, car, anything the world considers good, is worth my salvation. I do not say this as if my wife and children have no value, but they do not have the place in my life that Christ. In the end, when I stand before Him, it will be what my life consisted of in terms of obedience to Him and fulfilling what He called me to do, not whether I have had these things.

  10. I need the resurrection power of Jesus in my son’s life. He is an addict. His name is James.
    Psalm 51:10-12
Create in James a clean Heart
Renew a steadfast spirit within James
Do not remove your presence from James
Restore to James the joy of your salvation.

I interchange the name James for all of us or who I think of at the time.

  11. I need the resurrection power or Christ most in my relationship with my fiancé. We are not on the same page. We agreed we want to have Jesus in the middle and to me it seems like we don’t. It seems like I pursue Him when I’m alone, and he pursues Him when he’s alone sometimes and anytime I say I want to spend more time with the Lord together he makes it mean that He isn’t good enough. Jesus resurrect my marriage before it strats!
